Orient Lines was founded in 1991 by Gerry Herrod, the company specialised in cruise's to exotic destinations, Orient Lines ceased operations in March 2008 but planned to restart operations in April 2009 the line operated a fleet of three ships Marco Polo, Crown Odyssey and Marco Polo II, however after purchasing the later ship (originally called the  SS Maxim Gorkiy) it never entered service due to the economic downturn in 2008, the planned re-launch was cancelled and Marco Polo II. Was sold for scrap and has now been broken up.
