Flying Dutchman

The Flying Dutchman is commanded by the legendary Captain Davy Jones. Jones and his crew, like the ship itself, are slowly losing their humanity and mutating into conglomerates of different sea life forms. Both Jones and the ship were made immortal by the sea goddess, Calypso, in exchange for serving as psychopomp and ushering the souls of those who died at sea to the next world. Jones, however, eschewed his duties and made the Flying Dutchman the most feared ship on the seas. the Dutchman makes its first appearance when it rises from the sea to claim victims' souls following a Kraken attack. The look of the fictional ship was inspired by the seventeenth century Dutch "fluyt" vessels and the Vasa, a real-life Swedish warship which sank in 1628.
