The first class reception room was located on D deck near the forward grand staircase, it was a large room measuring around 5,000 sq feet and could hold approximately 600 guests, the room was decorated in a Jacobean style with wicker tables and chairs, the purpose of the reception room was to accommodate 1st class passengers upon boarding the ship.

Passengers could also listen to the orchestra between 4 to 5 pm while tea was served; liquor and cigars were also available until 11pm.

Next door to the reception room was titanic’s first class dining room both rooms spanned the entire width of the ship.
